1      Ministry Roles

All ministry positions are strictly volunteer.

1.1     House Chaplain

  • Must agree with the ministry statement of faith and sign the ministry covenant agreeing to abide by the statement of faith and all other rules and expectations of the role.
  • This role will require living at the house for a majority of their time with ample time allowed for rest and relaxation away from the home.
  • House manager will:
    • Oversee the daily schedule of the house.
    • Coordinate and ensure the residents have transportation as required.
    • Ensure the house rules are being followed.
    • Perform visual inspections of the house, grounds and living quarters of the men on a daily basis.
    • Provide transportation for emergencies if needed for work or medical reasons.
  • The house manager will be expected to maintain order according to the house rules but discipline decisions will be made by the ministry team with recommendations from the resident’s community group.
  • Ensure that all safety issues are addressed immediately with the ministry team and the residents.
  • Inventory house supplies and update shopping list of supplies that are needed.
  • The house manager will need to be available for counseling as needed. This may require a late night session with a resident who is in crisis.

1.2     Program counselor

  • Will work with the residents to continue working on the program of avoiding sin and falling back into addiction.
  • Will apply the principles of a step program using biblical principles of healing in salvation (regeneration) and the ongoing work of living a life of being made holy before God (sanctification).
  • Will help equip discipleship mentors to complete their role in discipling the residents.
  • Provide input to the ministry team on the progress of the residents in working through the transformation process (job, spiritual, physical, family, and community).
  • Provide support for the resident managers as needed to address concerns raised over certain residents.

1.3     Discipleship Mentor (DM)

  • Must agree with the ministry statement of faith and sign the ministry covenant agreeing to abide by the statement of faith and all other rules and expectations of the role.
  • Volunteers from local churches.
  • Must be male by birth.
  • Assigned to be the coach for one man throughout the duration of the program.
  • The discipleship partner must be willing to commit to partnering to disciple the resident for the duration of the program. Except of course in the event of an unforeseen change in status that will not allow the DM to continue in the role.
  • Agrees to abide by the expectations of a DM
    • Meet with the resident one on one at least once per week for an hour.
    • Connect the local resident with their local church including providing transportation of needed.
    • Contacting the resident at least one other time during the week, for prayer, support, or just to say hello.
    • Help the resident to become an active member in the church by actively participating in ministry opportunities like choir, men’s Bible studies, men’s fellowship activities etc..
  • Will complete training provided by the ministry on working with men who are recovering from addiction.
  • Will complete a basic overview of biblical counseling to be provided by the ministry.

1.4     Jobs coordinator

  • Must agree with the ministry statement of faith and sign the ministry covenant agreeing to abide by the statement of faith and all other rules and expectations of the role.
  • Coordinate activities with local businesses to develop job opportunities for the men.
  • Counsel the men on job skills development and provide information on local training and advancement that is offered.

1.5     Financial Admin and Operational support volunteer

  • Must agree with the ministry statement of faith and sign the ministry covenant agreeing to abide by the statement of faith and all other rules and expectations of the role.
  • Support the ministry with administrative activities including creating forms, documentation, light bookkeeping, and keeping schedules.
